“8·19”案件发生后，国务委员、公安部部长郭声琨，省委书记郭庚茂，省政府、省公安厅，安阳市委、市政府等领导相继作出批示，要求全力抢救伤员，缉捕犯罪嫌疑人。案件发生后，省公安厅以豫北6市和郑州市为重点，调动全省警力、协调河北、山东公安机关全力缉捕犯罪嫌疑人。
截至8月20日15时，案件已造成3人死亡，15人受伤。死者分别为刘志旭，女，10个月，安阳县北郭乡人;李洪光，男，9岁，安阳县永和乡西邢济村人;耿晨，男，19岁，安阳县吕村镇奇务村人。伤者分别在安阳市人民医院、安阳地区医院、安阳市眼科医院、安阳市中医院、安阳县第二人民医院和安阳县白壁镇卫生院等6家医院救治，另有1人伤势轻微没有住院。8月19日晚上，安阳市专门召开会议，研究部署伤员救治和受害家属安抚工作，并连夜督促落实。
8月20日13时许，警方在安阳县辛村乡郝伍级村东头路边将犯罪嫌疑人周江波(男，内黄县马上乡人，1989年5月13日出生)抓获。经讯问，周江波对犯罪事实供认不讳。目前案件正在进一步审理中。
33名乘客15人被捅伤 3名死难者均未成年
惨剧发生在19日下午15时左右，位于事发地的岗上村清连超市的监控录像拍下了当时的情形。
在监控上看到，15时04分，公交车停在了超市门口，只有前车门打开，有乘客慌忙往下跑，车后部有人翻窗跳车。随后，后车门被打开，不少乘客往下跑。
